"Welcome to my webpage! I made this site as a simple way to show off my portfolio with everyone. I've been interested in photography as long as I can remember. From some early toy film cameras as a kid, to the initial wave of digital photography, I've enjoyed taking interesting photos with whatever I could get my hands on. I am currently 33 years old and reside in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and my current interest in particular is going back and using film photography. There is something about the limitations and mysterious elements about film that really spark my enthusiasm. I know digital pictures are way more easier to work with in our digital life and current landscape, and now more than ever, everyone has a fantastic camera in their pocket or bag at all times. I do believe that the best camera is the one you have with you and that a good photo can come from any device. I've taken breathtaking shots on a DSLR, pet and family photos on my phone, and some wild shots on film, and I can say, it's how you use what you have in your hands rather than what you have. The cameras I use aren't the best and never have been. I hope that my work can inspire others to look at the world around them and find the beauty in the amazing and the mundane that surrounds us every day."
-Violet J. Addams, August 8th, 2025
Violet Jayne Addams was born in a hospital in Skokie, IL on July 2nd 1992. Ever since she's been an inattentive slacker with her head in the clouds, lost in her own thoughts and worlds. Painfully shy and withdrawn, Violet kept mostly to herself. School life was dreadfully boring to her, so Violet mostly doodled and wrote their own random things to keep themselves entertained. If she wasn't interested in the subject, good luck. Never quite fitting in with her peers at the Catholic K-8 and high school she was forced to attend by her parents, she spent more and more time in her own head, staring out the window, up at the ceiling, down at the floor, etc. Once school was out of session, the iPod headphones went on and she would work on homework at school until her older sister was done with her after school activities or wander around with some of her friends. She did enjoy acting (even getting cast as the Earthworm in her high school's production of "James and the Giant Peach") in the school's theater department, but still felt like an outcast. She tried to go to college, but ended up feeling more alone and unsure of what to study, she eventually stopped going to school and has been working in retail since. Wandering aimlessly through life, she got married in 2017 and divorced in 2022. In the meantime, she found an old Canon AE-1 at a thrift shop and testing found that it worked, leading towards a new age of photography in her that hasn't been seen since she was a teenager. Coming out as transgender in 2023 post divorce and finding out that their new partner had a DSLR they could play with plus being a fresh eye in a new town, reinforced that passion as she snaps pictures of the beauty in her surroundings.
